Judaism has always been a big beautiful shining part of my life. And my biggest joy has always been making people laugh. So I decided to finally put together a comedy show all about my life of Judaism. The Baruch Meir Bar Mitzvah Show! The idea to make this show came from wanting to do something for my family in Skokie and grew from there.
And now this show gives me the opportunity to do that on a level I had never even thought possible. The Skokie Chabad is raising money to purchase a building for a teen center and share its giant heart with our community even more. To thank these wonderful people for all the love and light they‘ve brought into my life, I am partnering with Wendy Kaplan & the Skokie Theatre to help this dream come true. All of my proceeds from the show and DVD sales, as well as a portion of the theatre‘s ticket sales, generously donated by the theatre, will go directly to the Skokie Chabad‘s efforts to buy this building for Cteen to help Jewish youth in this neighborhood. We will also be having a fun raffle giveaway at the show!
I‘d love to have you there. And tell your friends!!!
Love, Brett Baruch Meir Walkow
THE BARUCH MEIR BAR MITZVAH SHOW - Press Release
April 4th, join nationally-known comedian (and idiot extraordinaire) Brett "Baruch Meir" Walkow on a ridiculous journey from boyhood to manhood in The Baruch Meir Bar Mitzvah Show! Be a part of this warm & humorous evening of comedy as Brett shares his unique take on Jewish life and his awkward journey from boyhood to manhood. Tales of being a pre-teen wearing ill-fitting hand me downs to Bar Mitzvahs in Beverly Hills, tracking down the last Kosher food left in Medford Oregon, being the only white Jewish comic at a hip hop comedy show, to being terrified performing for a racist audience in Idaho yet winning over a skinhead in the end! And since no Bar Mitzvah is complete without a little magic, Brett has invited his friend, The Great Boutelle, to kick the night off with his incredible illusions, sure to both amaze you and tickle your funny bone!
For over 25 years, Brett Walkow has been making audiences laugh all over the world with his signature blend of silliness, warmth, and off-the-cuff audience interaction. He's performed alongside Melissa McCarthy & Jimmy Fallon, appeared on The Tonight Show, and in Seinfeld's movie 'Comedian'. Brett’s credits include: The Golden Globes, 11 years in Las Vegas (Harrahs & MGM Casinos), Comedy Central, HBO, NBC, FOX, CBS, overseas for our troops, and a 200 episode celebrity talk show. In 2011, Brett created, wrote, directed, produced and starred in his dream project, “The Hanukkah Mensch’s 8 Nights of Hanukkah.” After winning Best Short Film at the Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival, Brett’s passion for Jewish comedy was able to flourish on a whole new level. From hosting fundraisers in Chicago to making them laugh at a Purim celebration in New York; Brett brings his own heartwarming, hilarious twist to Jewish events. Most recently Brett is proud to announce that the dozen Jewish comedy short films created by his company, HappyTown Films, have hit 50,000 views worldwide, bringing his viral online comedies to over 7 million views!
Faith and community are a big part of Brett‘s life, no matter where he goes. Entertaining Jewish audiences feels a bit like coming home for him, each and every performance. This special show about living life as a Jewish entertainer is a loving tribute to his community of friends and family. We hope to see you there!
